Camping Tools
Mobile Travel App
A mobile-first experience for planning, collaboration, and sharing memories.
Overview
Travelers want a way to plan, capture, and share memories in the moment, not just after a trip ends.
I helped bring Camping Tools’ web experience into a mobile experience, adapting existing workflows and adding new features to support travelers throughout their journey.
Problem
Users had no way to plan, share, or capture experiences as they happened, creating a gap between the journey itself and the memories they created.
Goal
Expand the existing web product into a mobile experience that supports the full travel journey, from planning and collaboration to capturing and sharing memories.

Takeaways
What I Learned from Camping Tools
Collaboration adds complexity - Designing shared trips introduced new challenges around ownership, contributions, and permissions. Creating clear rules for how users interact helped make collaboration feel natural.
A strong foundation enables scalability - Centering the experience around trips created a flexible structure that allowed new features to fit naturally as the product continued to grow.
